Oh My

Out of the corner of my eye
I look to see the winter sky retreating
I’m stuck inside my fishbowl dreams
The fabric ripping at the seams believing
A turtle in the passing lane
Shell ‘a glistening in the rain deceiving
I trust that in this episode
There is an exit from this road we’re leaving
Oh my, Oh my, Oh my

I gaze into my daughter’s face
And see beyond both time and space so clearly
The hands that hold the molecules
More powerful than fossil fuels and purely
There’s danger in shortsightedness
I’ll lean instead on truthfulness sincerely
The answers I begin to see encourage and inspire me so dearly
Oh my, Oh my, Oh my

Fears and ambitions fade like summer’s tan
Walking on clouds holding an angel’s hand

Now the broken mirror casts jagged shards
Collapsing this house of cards completely
But never mind I’ll build again
And this time strengthened from within and sturdy
I’ve seen the truth now I can say
There’s more beyond this alleyway and beauty
On the ceiling’s mural the fingers touched
And in my heart at least that much so lovely
Oh my, Oh my, Oh my

Fears and ambitions fade like summer’s tan
Walking on clouds holding an angel’s hand
Oh my, Oh my, Oh my
